Meet Laura... "The Prevention Queen"

A little about me...

Hey there! My name is Laura Seigel, known affectionately and professionally as "The Prevention Queen", and I am so excited to be a part of this amazing team of healers and grief/ trauma experts to serve you!

I am a Registered Clinical Social Worker Intern, licensed to practice in the State of Florida. I have served the South Florida community as a Social Worker, volunteer, and advocate in various capacities for many years. After a long career in the legal field, I rejoined my passions for service and empathic connection for the next phase of my beloved career in three capacities:

(1) a Transition of Care Social Worker at Centers Plan for Health Living

(2) a Mental Health Therapist for people with Developmental and/or Intellectual Disabilities at our sister company, Able to Dream Inc. and

(3) a Grief & Trauma Counselor at It’s All Grief!

Prior to having children and building my career in law, I worked at Family Resource Center’s Family Preservation Services Project and Crisis Nursery. In addition to my professional experience, I have over 35 years of experience in community volunteering at several agencies serving children and families, where I earned numerous certificates of appreciation and awards for my service.

One of the things I take the most pride in, is not taking myself too seriously. It is a way of life that has served me well, and it shows in my clinical work with clients. Though I take my role as a therapist seriously, it is my belief that what will truly make our work most meaningful is the relationship that is built between us as human beings.

a loving, compassionate, curious, silly, fun-loving, and down-to-Earth woman with a BIG heart for people and a desire to see people heal and become better versions of themselves. As a clinician, you can expect professionalism, a desire to connect with you deeply, and a highly-skilled and focused approach at helping you to reach your therapeutic goals.

My Qualifications

I received my Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work degrees from Florida International University. This is what qualifies me on a professional level to do this work. However, it is truly my personal journey with grief that makes me uniquely equipped to serve those healing through grief and traumatic loss. On a personal level, in order to cope with grief that touched my life in such a heartbreaking way, I searched but did not find a book or any other resources that spoke to my specific type of loss and circumstances. This led to many years of personal and professional study on the topic of healing through grief and loss, leading to my current work and to the writing process of a book I am writing designed to assist others who have endured similar suffering. In the process of writing my book, I was provided with the necessary clarity, guidance, lessons and compassion that enables me to guide others who are going through the grief process. More recently, I attended the 2022 Grief Summit and I am always in the learning process... reading and learning all the time about trauma and grief so that I can be the best Grief Counselor I can be for all of my clients.

I provide the following services, along with these rates for Private Pay:

Individual Therapy- $100.00 per 50-minute Session

Family Therapy- $200.00 per 90-minute Session

I do offer Sliding Scale services for those who express a need. I can also accept payment with your Health Savings Account or Flex Spending Account if you have an insurance plan for which I am out-of-network.
